why
UV disinfection is typically used in order to meet specific regulated bacterial
limits before discharging to surface water. There are 2 common practices used
to meet these discharge regulations; chemical or UV disinfection. Ultraviolet is a
physical process that disinfects water without the disadvantages
accociated with chemical treatment. UV either kills micro-organisms or inactivates
there reproductive capabilites while still remaining cost effective, low maintenance
and consuming little power.
